Job Summary
We are currently seeking a Transcription Team Managers [internal: Division Manager] with proven experience in team and project management in the localization industry. In this role, you will be overseeing a team of 5-10 transcribers. Teams complete projects focused on transcribing audio content into text. The project involves long-form transcription following established guidelines and best practices. This multi-faceted role offers the opportunity to earn income through multiple streams, as a transcriber, reviewing, and manager. See below for more details, including pay rates.
Responsibilities
- Regular and prompt communication in English
- Monitoring team progress and performance, while ensuring timely project completion
- Providing invoices and invoicing summaries
- Assist in hiring and onboarding transcribers, while following company-established onboarding procedures
- Administering and grading language verification tests, as well as revising and enhancing tests as needed
- Training and providing support for transcribers
- During down time, utilize company transcription program to transcribe alongside transcribers to help progression of project
- Troubleshoot alongside Team Services Manager and department Operations Coordinator to resolve any issues reported by transcribers during their work, such as bad data, technical issues, etc
Requirements
- Full proficiency in the Central Melanau language (ISO: mel)
- Professional work experience in Linguistics, Translation, Transcription or localization, strongly preferred
- Proficiency in computer and internet skills
- Competency on both MAC and PC platforms, Microsoft Applications, and G Suite
- Strong grammar, orthography, and punctuation skills; a proficiency test will be required
- Responsive with timely email access
- Effective web search skills
- Ability to onboard within two weeks
- Preferred, experience using Upwork
Additional Information
- Compensation as noted below:
- Transcription: USD $2.20per audio minute transcribed
- Reviewing: USD $0.60per audio minute reviewed
- Management: USD $0.50 per audio minute completed (total of all project audio minutes)
- The projected project volume is currently 19 audio hours (project volume may fluctuate)
- Language verification test review – USD $15 per review
Please note: the number of reviews required is to be determined and is dependent on project needs
Note: Division Managers are encouraged to participate in all three phases of the project (transcription, review, and management). Division Managers who transcribe and review will be compensated for these activities in addition to the estimated compensation they will earn for their management duties. The estimated compensation associated with management duties is paid out over the course of the project as the team completes the assigned audio minutes.
- Payment will be made on a 60-day pay cycle
- Acceptable payment methods are PayPal, Payoneer and Wise
- Productive Playhouse will cover platform fees associated with the accepted payment platforms
Please note that the pay rate is in US dollars and payment will be made in US dollars. The amount in local currency will vary according to exchange rates.
