About the Role

As part of our Operational Finance team, you will help improve our ability to deliver accurate and timely information, work faster on our continuous improvement roadmap and drive greater business insight.

RWS is seeking a Chief Accountant – Poland to support their European business. The EMEA Controllership team operates in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, functioning as a proactive business partner and assisting the business leaders with their accounting and compliance responsibilities. We are a profitable and growing company that offers translation and localization technology and services.

Job Purpose

As the Poland Chief Accountant, you will be responsible for the financial control of the Polish operations, accurate reporting, applying appropriate financial controls and ad-hoc analysis. The role is based in Bydgoszcz, Poland on a hybrid basis and is responsible for delivering monthly management accounts, local statutory accounts, indirect tax filings and corporate tax filings for the

Polish entity with the support of local accountants. The role will also be responsible for delivering ongoing process improvements critical to the strategy of RWS.

The business is currently undergoing a major transformation project, and the right candidate will have the ability to influence how operations within the Polish entity evolve to a future state.

Key Responsibilities

Full ownership and accountability for the financial accounting and reporting for the Polish entity

  • Cooperation with the tax team and external service providers to ensure reporting and compliance on time of VAT, CIT and statutory accounts
  • Managing and coordinating efficient external audits and have the expertise and ability to work with consolidated financial statements
  • Cashflow management, effective cooperation with the Treasury department
  • Application of appropriate financial controls for the Polish branch, in accordance with the Polish legislation and regulations
  • Review and approval of payroll
  • Oversight of the Accountants work in updating the local accounting software and monitoring their daily activity
  • Ensure that all accounting processes are accurate, timely and compliant, including monthly reporting and closing processes
  • Analysis of results within management accounts
  • Monthly review of BS and PL accounts to make sure everything is booked correctly in Group finance and local Polish accounting systems
  • Monthly and annually timely submission of all locally required statements (VAT, Corporate Income Tax, payroll related statements, statistical statements and annual financial statements of the company)

Skills & Experience

  • English and Polish language skills at a level which enables fluent communication
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/Equivalent)
  • 5+ years of experience in a finance function operating in a senior financial role including European finance experience
  • Experience of accounting and compliance for Polish entities would be extremely advantageous
  • Understanding of corporation tax requirements and accounting
  • Experience of consolidated accounting under Polish GAAP is desirable but not essential
  • Stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Strong influencing skills
  • Attention to detail, commitment to accuracy and quality
  • Experience of working with Microsoft Great Plains, Hyperion and Microsoft D365 desirable
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure to strict deadlines
  • Willingness to support the entire finance lifecycle where needed at times
