We are rapidly growing, scaling, and looking for new specialists to join the team! Our localization department is looking for a Technical Editor to work with courses in Brazilian Portuguese (DA, DS, WD, QA).
What you will do:
From the most common to the least common:
- Editing texts translated from English to Brazilian Portuguese;
- Proofreading older texts;
- Adjusting the translations depending on the feedback received from the technical experts and students;
- Providing feedback to the translation team;
- Preparation of the supporting materials for the translation team (creation of glossaries, managing the TMs, etc.)
Requirements:
- Proficient level of English and native Brazilian Portuguese;
- Experience working as the lead translation editor, language owner, or similar;
- Strong editing and translation skills working with large volumes of text (500-800 thousand words long course) and a great memory/ability to search in older texts;
- Some technical/coding/testing skills are a must (preferably our set of programming languages: Java Script, Python, SQL, etc.);
- Knowledge of CAT tools (For example, SDL Trados, MemoQ, Smartcat, or Wordfast), translation memory software, terminology management systems, proofreading tools, etc.;
- Great attention to detail;
- Ability to make and motivate editorial decisions;
- Strong research skills;
- Organizational and time-management skills. This position involves working on different courses/sets of materials almost simultaneously. The candidate (with the help of the project manager) will define the priorities and keep track of the tasks;
- Teaching experience is considered an advantage.
