Role Overview:

We are seeking a skilled English-to-Japanese Editor to join our team and help localize our healthcare application content for the Japanese market. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of application localization, and the ability to write healthcare-related content that is engaging, motivating, and easy-to-understand for users with little-to-no medical knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Localize English application content, provided by domain experts, into Japanese copy (translating when necessary) while ensuring cultural and linguistic appropriateness for the Japanese market.
  • Write user-friendly, easy-to-understand Japanese UI copy for a healthcare app, in collaboration with product designers
  • Follow the existing writing style guide to ensure consistent voice, tone, and language usage throughout the application
  • Update the writing style guide when necessary
  • Adapt technical and medical terms into language accessible to non-experts without losing fidelity or accuracy.
  • Review and proofread translated content to maintain quality and consistency

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in localizing applications or software for the Japanese market
  • Proven experience following and updating writing style guides 
  • Native-level fluency in Japanese
  • Fluency in English, particularly written English
  • Familiarity with user-focused writing principles.
  • Experience in educational or healthcare website writing (Big Plus).
  • Medical or healthcare knowledge (Nice-to-Have).

Location: Fully remote but preference for ET/CT/MT/PT timezones

Starting date: Immediately

Compensation: $40-60 per hour depending on experience
