Datadog is seeking a Localization Manager to be based in Tokyo, Japan. The Localization Manager is responsible for ensuring that global marketing campaigns, content, and materials resonate with the Japanese audience by translating and adapting them into culturally relevant, high-quality localized assets. This role supports various aspects of marketing, including website, ABM (Account-Based Marketing) projects, third-party events, programmatic advertising, and press releases etc. This role will require cross-functional collaboration with the global marketing, product, and communications teams, ensuring a cohesive and effective marketing presence in the Japanese market.

What You’ll Do:
- Localization Strategy and Execution
- Translate and localize global marketing campaigns, press releases, website content, and ABM projects, ensuring language and messaging align with Japanese culture and business standards.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive localization roadmap, aligning with global marketing objectives while addressing regional needs.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to support real-time localization of announcements, product launches, and event materials.
- Independently lead and effectively manage the full lifecycle of translations projects from inception to completion
- Campaign and Asset Management
- Develop and execute a 360-degree localization strategy, ensuring end-to-end messaging consistency across all channels, including website, social media, email, third-party event materials, and programmatic ads.
- Manage the localization of diverse marketing assets, including video scripts, banners, presentations, email templates, and print materials, ensuring they are optimized for the Japanese market.
- Collaborate with the ABM team to create localized, targeted assets that support account-specific campaigns and increase engagement among key accounts in Japan.
- Project Planning and Roadmap Development
- Build and manage a project plan for website localization, coordinating content updates and revisions to meet the needs of the Japanese audience.
- Establish a structured project management approach, setting clear timelines, milestones, and deadlines for localization initiatives.
- Develop and report on localization KPIs and metrics to measure effectiveness and impact of localized content on customer engagement and market performance.
- Quality Assurance and Brand Consistency
- Conduct quality control on localized content, maintaining high standards for language accuracy, cultural nuance, and brand consistency.
- Work closely with translation vendors, agencies, and in-house editors to ensure all Japanese content is well-researched, accurately localized, and aligned with the brand voice.
- Ensure a consistent brand experience across all localized assets and touchpoints.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration and Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with the product, marketing, and communications teams to support localization needs for product features, launches, and market communications.
- Partner with third-party event organizers and external agencies to localize event collateral and branded materials effectively.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all Japan-specific localization needs, liaising with global and regional teams to align on strategy, timelines, and project requirements.
- Research and Insights
- Stay updated on industry trends, competitor messaging, and cultural nuances that influence the Japanese market, applying these insights to enhance localization strategies.
- Gather feedback from sales, customer support, and local partners on the effectiveness of localized assets, and make recommendations for improvement based on performance insights.
- Leverage localization best practices to inform and evolve the marketing team’s global strategy for the Japanese market.
Who You Are:
- Language Proficiency: Native fluency in Japanese and professional proficiency in English.
- Experience: 5+ years in localization or marketing, ideally with experience in project management within the tech or SaaS industries.
- Skills: Excellent project management and organizational skills; familiarity with localization tools
- Soft Skills: Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively in a global, cross-functional environment.
- Familiarity with ABM strategies, programmatic advertising, and third-party event management.
- Previous experience working with external translation agencies and vendors.
- Strong understanding of the Japanese marketing landscape and B2B marketing practices.
