Freelance Translator/Editor with Japanese or Korean (ENG>JPN / ENG>KOR)

We are currently recruiting for positions of English into Japanese and/or Korean Translators

JOB INFORMATION

Type of cooperation: long-term, freelance

Location: it is remote cooperation. Ideally, you are located anywhere between (UTC+0) and (UTC+3)

Work hours: you need to be available to answer e-mails during our office hours (9-17 CET, Mon-Fri)

Availability: we are looking to start cooperation with freelancers who potentially can translate 8-10k words a week

Who Are We Looking For

Professional translators who are skilled and experienced in localizing texts from English into Japanese or Korean

Responsibilities

  • Translating from English into Japanese/Korean, chiefly video games;
  • Proofreading texts in Japanese/Korean;
  • Game testing, looking for linguistic bugs (Japanese/Korean);
  • Making sure deadlines are met;
  • Collaborating with PMs and translators.

Requirements

  • Perfect language knowledge of Japanese/Korean in all possible aspects (punctuation, grammar, spelling, gaming, and pop-cultural slang);
  • A very good command of English is a MUST;
  • Even better command of Japanese/Korean;
  • Experience as a professional translator or editor, preferably game or e-sport localization projects
  • Linguistic degree preferred, but you may also be the last year student;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Problem-solving attitude;
  • Friendly attitude;
  • Passion for games is a plus.
  • Proficiency in CAT tools is an advantage.

The first step is completing a language sample. It’s composed of small fragments of various texts, chiefly related to video games, and it has a 24-hour deadline. Our in-house linguist will review the sample, and we will get back to you with feedback information within two weeks.

To avoid double taxation, you must provide us with a tax residency certificate before the first payment.

If everything goes well, we will make you an offer, and you can start your journey in Roboto!
