Overview
As a French Language Expert, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and effective communication in French, contributing to the success of our organization’s interactions with French-speaking clients, partners, and stakeholders. Your expertise in the French language and culture will be essential in maintaining high standards of linguistic quality and cultural sensitivity.
Key responsibilities
- Provide accurate and culturally appropriate translation of documents, audio, or video materials from French to the target language and vice versa.
- Perform consecutive or simultaneous interpreting during meetings, conferences, or other events to facilitate effective communication between French speakers and others.
- Ensure linguistic accuracy and consistency by proofreading and editing translated materials and advising on language-related issues.
- Conduct language and cultural training sessions to enhance the language proficiency and cultural understanding of team members.
- Research and stay updated on terminology, language use, and cultural nuances to maintain and improve language quality standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve language-related challenges in various projects and initiatives.
- Participate in localization projects by adapting content to suit linguistic and cultural requirements for specific target audiences.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of linguistic resources such as dictionaries, glossaries, and style guides.
- Provide language support for marketing, communications, and customer service activities, ensuring consistency and clarity in French-language materials.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on French language and culture, advising on language-related best practices, guidelines, and policies.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of language-related tools and technologies to improve translation and language management processes.
- Handle confidential or sensitive information with integrity and discretion while adhering to data protection regulations and organizational policies.

Required Qualifications
- Fluency in French at a native or near-native level, with a deep understanding of French grammar, vocabulary, and syntax.
- Bachelor’s degree in French, Translation, Linguistics, or a related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
- Proven experience in translation, interpretation, language teaching, or a related language-focused role.
- Certification or accreditation in translation or interpretation (e.g., ATA certification, CCHI certification) is desirable.
- Strong cultural knowledge and sensitivity to nuances in French language and communication styles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both French and the target language (if applicable).
