Key Responsibilities
- Translate written documents from Japanese to English and vice versa.
- Ensure the accuracy and readability of translations.
- Localize marketing materials, websites, and product content.
- Proofread and edit translations for clarity and coherence.
- Conduct research to clarify terminology and concepts.
- Collaborate with other translators and team members on projects.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Participate in meetings to provide interpretation as needed.
- Manage multiple translation projects simultaneously.
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends in translation and localization.
- Utilize translation software and tools to enhance productivity.
- Provide feedback on linguistic and cultural aspects of translations.
- Assist in developing language glossaries for consistency.
- Contribute to quality assurance processes in translation.
- Train and mentor junior translators or interns.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field.
- Fluency in Japanese and English, both written and spoken.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in translation or a similar role.
- Proven ability to translate various types of documents.
- Strong understanding of Japanese culture and business etiquette.
- Experience with CAT tools and translation software.
- Excellent writing and editing skills in both languages.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage time effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality.
- Adaptability to different subjects and themes in translation.
- Certification in Japanese translation is a plus.
- Experience in technical translation is a plus.
- Knowledge of localization processes and tools.
