Responsibilities
• Conduct transcreation of the in-game content to ensure a top-quality experience.
• Based on the direction given by the Lead Translator, transcreate content as assigned.
• Proofread and cross-check the language content.
• Conduct in-game testing to ensure appropriateness and quality in-game.
• UI tweak: ensure a clean and appealing UI that minimizes the amount of tweaking
needed for other languages.
• UX tweak: analyze and adjust core systems, mechanics, tutorials, etc. to ensure the best
UX possible for the title.
• Set the overall linguistic style, game setting, background story adjustments and other
language-related particulars.
• Prepare style guides, game guides, and other relevant information to be used by
transcreators.
• Oversee the overall translation/transcreation process to ensure we have an appropriate
balance between speed & quality.
• Advise the project manager on the time & procedure needed to ensure quality
translation.
• Any other responsibilities the organization deems necessary.
Skills & Requirements
• Bilingual English-Korean (native or near-native English only).
• Impeccable mastery of grammar, syntax, and spelling.
• 1-2 years of experience as Korean > English translator.
• Ability to write creative translations.
• Detail-oriented.
• Ability to work under pressure or/and overtime when it’s required by the project
needs.
• Experienced in CAT tools.
• Ability to understand what makes good UX and UI.
• Find simple and innovative solutions to complex problems.
• Ability to ‘read the Matrix’, i.e. look at a Chinese game and ‘see’ potential
localization issues in English and future language-pairs.
• Avid gamer strongly preferred.
• Game industry-related translation experience is a big plus.
