The Localization Group is responsible for the multilingual production of Rakuten Travel’s global website. It will ensure that the localized versions of the website are clear and natural to each target audience by considering the language of the target market to optimize results.
The Traditional Chinese Hong Kong Language Leader will be responsible for managing and improving the quality of the localized Traditional Chinese version of Rakuten Travel’s contents.
As the Language Leader, you have a natural command of the language and will ensure that Rakuten Travel’s products are commercially ready, accurate, and appealing to the target audience. In this position, you will establish the guidelines for the Traditional Chinese language and work together with the Localization Group to set the foundations for translation quality and process.
You are proactive, inquisitive, and able to work flexibly in a changing environment. You are also passionate about providing quality experiences to stakeholders.
This is a chance to be part of a growing team building a new global product for Rakuten Travel. As we are in the early stages, in your first year, you will be responsible for translating and proofreading until we are ready to transition the role to focus on quality management. This will be an opportunity to make an impact and grow within the Localization Group and greater Travel Business.
Responsibilities:
- Translating and proofreading from English into Traditional Chinese
- Maintaining the quality of the target language
- Creating and spearheading language initiatives to standardize and improve translations.
- Performing QA investigations and documenting feedback and solutions
- Communicating with both the Business Unit and Development Unit and providing feedback
- Updating language guides and developing processes for continuous improvement
Requirements:
- Knowledge of Traditional Chinese Hong Kong language is essential for this role.
- Fluency in English is essential for this role.
- At least 3 years of experience translating and/or writing localized copy.
- At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role and/or leading initiatives
- At least 3 years of experience working in travel, hospitality, e-commerce, and/or related industries.
- Strong computer skills
- Experience using Computer-assisted Translation (CAT) tools.
- Experience using social media that is native to the target market.
- Passion for customer service
- Bachelor’s Degree
Additional information:
- Knowledge in Japanese language would be a plus as you will be working closely with Japanese stakeholders
- Experience writing localized copy in Traditional Chinese Hong Kong
- Strong interest in travel
