TITLE: LATAM Language Specialist – Games localization

LOCATION: Any location within Latin America. Reports to Mexico City office.

ROLE PURPOSE

This role sits within the Localization Area. The prime purpose of this role is to provide professional linguistic expertise so that the localized projects into Latin-American Spanish are of top quality. The Language Specialist is the main source for any questions on linguistic content and oversees the final texts within their specialty.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Language Specialist operates with the localization team to tackle all day-to-day localization needs as it relates to Latin America operations:

  • Will be tasked with a variety of Spanish-language localization projects, including the text translation and review, editing, adaptation, transcreation, quality control, etc., for game materials, as well as various content for other websites, campaigns, scripts, directed to player community.
  • Provide linguistic expertise and ensure the quality of projects for the Latin American market.
  • Support for the team of external linguists, Project Managers, and Production teams.
  • Create, maintain, and update reference materials, guides, glossaries, and documentation.
  • Serve as the point of contact for linguistic matters, including attending regular meetings, collecting and applying feedback, providing feedback to external collaborators, tracking changes, ensuring continuous improvement, and overseeing the correct use of branding, terminology, tone, and application across all content.
  • Maintain communication with the Company’s management, as well as project management, administrative staff, work teams, and any other personnel assigned by the Company for the proper performance of duties.

Reports to: Text Localization Lead

Staff reporting to this post: None. Will support external translators.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Translation, Linguistics or Communication fields (other backgrounds will also be considered)

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • Experienced videogames translator
  • Latin-American Spanish native speaker
  • Above average Spanish skills
  • Comprehensive English skills
  • In-depth knowledge of game translation practices and standards
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Working experience with CAT tools
  • Familiar with QA processes
  • Capacity to work collaboratively to deliver effective solutions to project related issues
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral in English and Spanish)
  • Cultural awareness and experience of delivering projects internationally

Desirable:

  • Passionate about videogames
  • Basic proficiency of Brazilian Portuguese
