The Lead Translator manages the translation team in running of projects and provides linguistic support (proofreading work mainly) to ensure the quality meets the client expectation.
A member of the Translation Team that reports into a Site Head and has internal linguists to manage. Also works with global project managers to ensure delivery according to project and client requirements.
Duties And Key Responsibilities
- Ensure and prepare project setups (communication platform, tools, SP) and resolve any access blocker for the team
- Creation of documentations such as style guide and RCAs
- Keep track of team’s daily progress (translation and bug fixing) and record in reports
- Creates progress projections based on approved schedule and raise resourcing concerns
- Ensuring translation projects run as scheduled in according to instructions provided by Project Managers while achieving the highest possible level of quality
- Flag any concerns and proactively implement solution to mitigate risks
- Communicates with clients in regular meetings to discuss outstanding concerns and report progress
- Lead the direction of filPH translation effort while keeping consistency with the existing translation
- Assign linguists to bug fixing while balancing the translation work, and keep track of the bug fixing progress
Team Supervision
- Ensure that the attendance of the assigned staff is accounted for and the correct documentation and files are kept up to date
- Provide support to direct reports to ensure their working conditions are adequate and liaise with other departments to ensure capacity plans are in place
- Provide feedback on performance of the staff as required by Management
- Regularly evaluate team’s performance and provide feedback to each linguist
- Support each linguist as needed if they are facing any blockers such as access issue
- Proactively lead the team by having a daily sync and looping everyone in the chat
Other duties:
- Answers emails swiftly and is clear and concise.
- Adhere to company Security, Confidentiality and Health and Safety procedures and ensure the compliance of the team
- Proactively communicates with global PM teams and client, where necessary
- Adhere to the company IT and HR procedures and ensure the compliance of the team.
- Understand ethical behaviour and business practices and ensure that own behaviour and the behaviour of others is consistent with these standards and aligns with the values of the organization.
- Regularly report to the Site Head and the Project Manager on the progress and any potential risks
Requirements
- With solid project coordination translation experience
- Experience in the translation or Localization QA in video games or media entertainment industry
- Excellent knowledge of business software applications (e.g. Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of translation management systems and CAT Tools (MemoQ is preferred
- Clear and effective communication skills in English (verbal and written)
- Capable of leading teams
