ABOUT THE ROLE:
Lead a small team of video engineers localizing client’s content into different languages.
Work with Project Managers, provide technical expertise on client calls, manage work among junior colleagues, monitor quality.
Adapt client’s videos for different markets by replacing On-Screen Text with translations, hardcoding subtitles, and making minor edits.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preparation for localization
- Analyze incoming files to assess their completeness and suitability for localization according to project requirements
- Estimate localization effort
- Raise queries
- Optimize and reorganize project assets
- Extract localizable On-Screen Text from source
- Create project templates for localization (recreation of editable text based on reference and textless videos)
- Planning, Task Distribution, and Teamwork
- Coordinate scheduling with Project Managers
- Allocate tasks among a team of engineers
- Monitor progress and schedules
- Adapt to tight deadlines and last-minute requests
- Escalate and resolve issues
- Cooperate with other teams within and outside of Rich Media Delivery
- Mentor junior colleagues
- Client Interaction
- Attend client calls to discuss technical details and provide support to Client Services team
- Advise on best practices and suggest optimal workflows to meet client needs
- Localization into multiple languages
- Replace On-Screen Text and adjust layout
- Embed/hardcode translated subtitles
- Perform minor edits – product image replacement, scene replacement, object masking/rotoscoping, etc.
- Follow all client-specific instructions and internal procedures
- Encode videos according to delivery specifications
- Quality management
- Ensure that all work is performed according to established procedures
- Check Quality and prepare deliveries as per customer specifications
- Documentation
- Document processes and workflows
- Document client-specific requirements
- Optimization
- Develop new processes and improve existing ones
- Familiarize with new tools and online platforms related to video editing, localization, and AI
REQUIREMENTS:
- English level – proficient (C1) – Excellent communication skills both oral and written
- Working hours: 8am EST – 5pm EST (US East Coast hours supporting NASA team)
- Fast and stable internet connection
- Experience and good knowledge of After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro (primarily AE)
- Basic knowledge of After Effects expressions (or JavaScript)
- Basic/Intermediate knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator (focus on text layers)
- Experience and understanding of: bitmap and vector image editing, non-linear video editing, compositing and effects, animation, video encoding, general video production
- Knowledge, understanding and experience of typography and font use
- Competent use of Windows and fundamental IT knowledge
- High level of organization skills and ability to prioritize tasks
- Being hard working, conscientious, proactive, self-motivated
- Strong people skills
- Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
- Thoroughness and attention to detail

NICE TO HAVE:
- Understanding of audio production and editing
- Understanding of subtitling formats and best practices
- Knowledge of Windows scripting and command line
- Knowledge of other video editing software (both offline and online)
- Understanding where automation and AI technology can be implemented to reduce cost and timeline for our clients whilst meeting their quality requirements
WHAT THIS JOB ISN’T:
- Shooting videos or editing raw footage
- Creating animations from scratch (except when recreating text animations based on client source)
- Translation
- Subtitle transcription
