Linguistic Quality Assurance Specialist

The Quality Assurance Executive ensures that outsourced translation and language services meet our internal quality standards, and those of our customers and ISO17100. Duties include the development and implementation of linguistic quality assurance activities, the detection and resolution of quality issues prior to final delivery, and the delivery of satisfactory outcomes. The quality assurance department’s main objective is to build upon our company’s reputation and uphold our unwavering commitment to delivering consistently high-quality translation services.

Position reports to: Service Delivery Quality Manager.

Responsibilities:

Executing the company’s Linguistic Quality Assurance programme, which not only safeguards the quality of translation services, but also aligns with our “quality culture”, which is an integral part of our company ethos. This culture involves all of our employees and freelancers actively engaging to guarantee quality excellence at all times.

Employment: part-time, 20 hours a week, which can be worked flexibly upon request.

  • Assist Operations in tracking, documenting and reporting agreed quality levels.
  • Produce weekly feedback to send to linguists based on quality reporting results. Respond to and act on any subsequent queries.
  • Gather relevant information and feedback to enable efficient investigation of complaints and internal non-conformities to provide a satisfactory outcome.
  • Conduct Quality Assurance checks using a variety of CAT tools.
  • Support the development and updating of company quality procedures to ensure capture and investigation of any quality issues, as well as version-controlled documentation of the subsequent outcomes and actions.
  • Provide training and support to external quality assurance teams on CAT tools, internal quality procedures, and our company’s core processes.
  • Escalate quality concerns to the Service Delivery Quality Manager in a timely and solution-focused manner.
  • Support the arbitration of linguist testing and quality assessment, and the creation of test pieces.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in languages or translation. MA preferred
  • Experience with CAT tools
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral
  • Excellent time management
  • Customer focused
  • Good IT competence
  • Sharp attention to detail
  • Meticulous, organized and diligent
  • Knowledge of quality assurance terminology, methods, and tools
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of testing best practices and version control practices
  • Great team player with the ability to work under minimal supervision

Experience:

  • 1+ year’s experience in the translation industry
  • Quality inspection, auditing, and testing experience (preferred)
  • Experience of implementation of corrective action programmes
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office & QA applications
  • Knowledge of CAT tools, TM/MT concepts and methodologies of QA
  • Experience in effective usage of data for analysis (preferred)
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements (preferred)

Knowledge:

  • 1+ year’s experience in the translation industry: apply linguistic quality principles & best practices to our business.
