Linguistic Quality Specialist – Overview
Focused on setting and executing translator performance strategies to improve and maintain the overall quality and versatility of our subtitling resource pool, with particular focus on AI-driven workflows such as Machine Translation Post-Edit and Text-to-Speech Post-Edit.
Responsibilities:
- Actively participating in reactive and preventive linguistic quality assessments and initiatives
- Preventive: Analyzing data to interpret and spot trends and developing training, instructions and targeted quality programs
- Reactive: Monitoring and responding to escalations from internal and external sources, performing root cause analysis and determining preventive actions
- Monitoring and responding to quality escalations from clients, production teams and translators. Carrying out preliminary research to assist senior team members with root cause analysis
- Work with management to expand the roster of freelance Lead Linguists to support AI-related workflows
- Consulting freelance Language Leads and evaluators for evaluation and feedback validation as required, and to ensure client expectations and program guidelines are clearly communicated to linguists
- Contributing to Linguistic Quality initiatives with particular focus on AI-driven initiatives such as Machine Translation Post-Edit and Text-to-Speech Post-Edit
- Identifying and escalating problematic issues and trends to Linguistic Quality management
- Maintaining feedback, escalation and rejection records
- Reviewing, editing and sending feedback to translators and handling their responses
- Directing appropriate feedback to production teams to ensure the best practices that support translation quality
- Pool sorting and translator Tier re-categorization/tagging based on QA metrics, quality scores, evaluations and feedback records
Qualifications
- Impeccable written and verbal English communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to provide feedback in a constructive and tactful manner
- A passion for languages and openness to AI-driven initiatives and workflows
- Formal study of a second or third language other than English
- An attraction to performing reviews of workflows and processes and identifying gaps as opportunities for improvement
- Able to learn quickly and effectively
- An attraction to applying deep critical thinking on difficult problems
- Team player, detail-oriented, ability to multitask and work under deadline
- Organized, priority-focused, dynamic, independent, resourceful
- Mastery of Microsoft Office or Google Suite
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in a localization environment
Preferred skills
- Translation experience, preferably in audiovisual translation
- Experience in subtitling or captioning
- Software or gaming localization experience
