PeopleCert is looking for a Localisation Associate who will manage translation projects from start to finish, coordinating external LSPs (Language Service Providers) and SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) for all our products, as well as ensuring translations meet agreed quality standards.

As a Localisation Associate, your tasks will include the following:

  • Create projects in XTM TMS (Translation Management System) and allocate tasks to selected LSPs & SMEs
  • Coordinate the translation of all content
  • Perform alignments of files, maintain memories and prepare files for translation
  • Onboard new suppliers
  • Take part in suppliers’ briefings
  • Perform quality checks on translated materials
  • Feedback issues as they arise to the Team Manager and relevant requester
  • Ensure administrative tasks are carried out accurately and in a timely manner

What we look for:

  • Minimum 2 years’ LSP (Language Service Provider) experience as a translation or localization project manager. Industry experience in the professional education sector
  • Translator qualification or MSc in translation studies will be an asset
  • Experience in managing multiple projects concurrently to time and budget
  • Good understanding of CAT tools, MT, and TMS ( XTM will be an asset)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, fluency in English and Japanese is required (native-like or C2 level certification desired, LanguageCert C2 LTE or C2 IESOL certificate would be also a plus)
  • Knowledge of Best Practice methodologies will be a plus (PRINCE2, Scrum, ITIL, etc.)
  • Proficiency in handling files in multiple formats (MS Office, InDesign, etc) with a particular interest in file engineering
  • Excellent communication, prioritisation and organisation skills
  • Able to build successful relationships with external suppliers across the world and ensure tasks are delivered on time
  • Self-starter, proactive, and attention to detail

Working on Home Office (HO) Secure English Language Tests (SELTs)

Any person who is engaged by PeopleCert to work on the SELT service must undergo a Background Check (the results of which must be acceptable to PeopleCert and the HO) prior to commencing their SELT duties. All SELT personnel will be required to complete a declaration (provided by PeopleCert) where the existence of any criminal record and/or bankruptcy must be declared.

If working on the SELT service in the UK, background checks will include:

  • A basic or enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check
  • Right to Work in the UK check (including nationality, identity, and place of residence)
  • HO security check (Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) or Counter-Terrorist Check (CTC)
  • Financial background check
  • Employment reference check
  • If working on the SELT service anywhere in the world (outside of the UK) personnel will undergo background checks that are equivalent to those stated for the UK

In addition, if the personnel is required to speak to SELT candidates they must be appropriately skilled in the English language and, where SELT services are provided anywhere in the world (outside of the UK), the official language of the relevant country.
