Job Description

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that’s all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you’ll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At The Moment, This Role Is Focused On

We are looking for a skilled and experienced native/fluent Spanish localisation reviewer to review translated templates, including posters, invitations, social media graphics, presentations, print materials, and more, created using Canva’s design tool. The goal will be to localise content from English to Spanish by adjusting language and updating design to be more in line with Spanish speaking markets. You will review templates by providing language feedback, and implementing language and design fixes in the following areas:

  • Perform spell checks and grammar assessments.
  • Ensure the quality and fluidity of language by addressing grammar, punctuation, spelling mistakes, typos, and overall cohesiveness.
  • Uphold adherence to guidelines while maintaining the brand’s tone of voice.
  • Identify design-related issues, such as incorrect line breaks, unsuitable or controversial images, and font substitutions.
  • Serve as our local expert on current trends and cultural subtleties.
  • Revise templates based on feedback,
    • (e.g., updating zodiac signs in Lunar New Year templates, shifting Mother’s Day messaging to Parents’ Day, adjusting invoice formats to meet country-specific requirements, etc.)
  • Occasionally create translations of template content from the ground up.
  • Provide feedback on translation quality concerns.
  • Collaborate on template localization projects across various workflow formats.

You’re probably a match if

  • You’re an experienced Localisation Specialist, Localisation Reviewer, Linguist, or Designer––preferably with proficiency in using Canva as a design tool.
  • You have a strong foundation and stylistic approach to design; with a keen understanding of visual, cultural, and popular trends, especially in the Spanish market.
  • You are fluent in Spanish and English with an excellent grasp of both languages. Please do not apply if you are not fluent in these two languages.
  • You have an understanding of Spain’s culture, trends, news, controversies, history, education system, conflict, politics, and can stay up-to-date with the local scene to create templates with appropriate and non-discriminatory, non-sensitive content.
  • You’re able to read and follow strict guidelines, and communicate coherently and properly.
  • You have a passion for design and copy, with great attention to detail.

About The Team

Working closely with the International Templates team, you’ll be involved in localising templates through transcreation and design in our content library for this specific market.

Our template library needs a range of fresh, varied, and beautiful designs – so we’re after self-motivated designers who would love to have room for creative freedom in answering briefs.
