Localization and Communication Coordinator (Korean)

We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Localization and Communication Coordinator to join our team. This position is based in our office in Singapore.

The ideal candidate will be fluent in Korean and English, with a deep understanding of both Korean culture and the gaming industry. This individual will play a critical role in facilitating communication between our product team and developers, as well as managing game language localization efforts.

Job Responsibilities

Communication Facilitation:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all day-to-day and routine communication between our product team and developers.
  • Translate documents, emails, and other communications from Korean to English and vice versa.
  • Act as an interpreter during meetings and events between the two parties to ensure clear understanding and effective communication.

Localization Management:

  • Oversee the localization process for our games, including text translation, voiceover recording, subtitling, and cultural adaptation.
  • Identify and onboard freelance translators or localization companies as needed.
  • Ensure timely delivery of localized content while maintaining high quality standards.

Quality Assurance:

  • Conduct linguistic and functional testing to ensure the accuracy and consistency of localized content.
  • Work closely with QA teams to address any issues or discrepancies in the localization process.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to translators and vendors to improve localization quality.

Cultural Consultation:

  • Offer insights and recommendations on cultural nuances and sensitivities to ensure culturally appropriate game content.
  • Collaborate with developers and content creators to incorporate cultural elements into game design and narrative.

Vendor Management:

  • Manage relationships with freelance translators, localization companies, and other vendors involved in the localization process.
  • Negotiate contracts, establish project timelines, and monitor vendor performance.
  • Ensure compliance with budgetary constraints and quality standards.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed documentation of localization processes, including glossaries, style guides, and project timelines.
  • Generate regular reports on localization progress and performance metrics for senior management.

Job Requirements

  • Fluency in both Korean and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
  • Experience in translation, localization, or related fields, preferably in the gaming industry.
  • Deep understanding of Korean culture and gaming trends.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience working with localization tools and software is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Linguistics, Communications, or a related field.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Be able to work independently with a keen sense of ownership and responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge in MapleStory is an added advantage.
  • This role is located in the Singapore Office
