Localization Engineer

Localization Engineer required to work within a fast-paced localization team.

Responsible for all areas of the Engineering function and quality of service delivery, working with project managers, developers and translators to ensure high-quality localization outcomes. Using various tools and technologies to automate and optimise the localization process. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, with strong technical skills and excellent attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Support and execute all technical elements in the localization workflow.
  • Analyse and prepare source files for localization using CAT tools and scripts.
  • Create and maintain translation memories, glossaries, and terminology databases.
  • Implement automations into the workflow to reduce SLAs and production costs.
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving. Find creative solutions to overcome technical challenges.
  • Working within a tight-knit multi-functional team, collaborating with others to ensure project requirements are met. 
  • Accurately executing the brief.
  • Working to agreed SLAs and timings.
  • Right first time, ensuring quality and consistency across all localized products.
  • Systems and Workflow Development
  • Design and implement automated localization workflows across integrated systems infrastructure.
  • Manage systems access and support users with queries and troubleshooting.
  • Monitor and maintain system performance.

Proven Ability & Skills 

  • At least 3 years of experience as a localization engineer or a similar role, with proven technical experience of the end-to-end digital localization process.
  • Highly proficient with CAT tools such as Phrase, MemoQ, Trados etc.
  • Knowledge of various file formats and standards, such as XML, HTML, HTML5, JSON, XLIFF, TMX, TBX, etc.
  • Experience with handling multimedia file formats for localization such as InDesign, Photoshop, PowerPoint, Illustrator, Figma, etc.
  • Ability to create and edit scripts using common programming languages is a plus.
  • Organized, self-motivated, process driven around operational goals.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible and supportive of change.
  • Knowledge of Airtable is a plus.
  • Fluency in English is required. Additional language is a plus.
