We are looking for a Localization Manager for a full-time remote position.
Responsibilities:
- Audit existing localization processes and identify opportunities for improvement and optimization.
- Communicate proactively with all stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage, execute, and own traditional localization program management tasks, such as working with stakeholders to define localization scope, coordinating handoffs and handbacks with language service providers, and supporting the deployment of localized assets.
- Explore, assess, and select relevant localization workflow and AI technology to make localization and linguistic tasks more efficient and less costly.
- Vendor management Language solution providers; Tools providers. Develop and manage strong relationships with providers. Primary admin contact with language and tool providers.
- Create and maintain process and workflow documentation, including tools documentation, training materials, and best practices.
- Implement, maintain, and update global localization processes; support process automation by eliminating manual tasks wherever possible.
- Support the creation and coordination of a linguistic quality program. Identify service levels and quality threshold requirements for each content type in scope.
- Work cross-functionally with stakeholders to identify and remove critical project blockers; liaise with all regional teams to assess localization needs and find efficiencies.
- Proactively assess project risks through prioritization, bug management, and other necessary means.
- Balance translation costs and project budgets.
- Support data analysis to optimize localization decisions, detail ROI on localization investments, define measures, and track vendor performance against KPIs.
- Support creating and maintaining translation assets: style guides, terminology, and translation memories.
Requirements:
- Localization program management experience developing and creating new processes, tools, and infrastructure.
- Extensive stakeholder management experience, including influencing and quickly creating a credible impression.
- Advanced project management skills.
- Advanced understanding of and highly skilled in technical aspects, authoring tools, LMSs, handling various file types, etc.
- Experience with best-in-class CAT tools, translation management systems, and localization platforms. E.g., GlobalLink, XTM, CrowdIn, Memsource, Smartling, Trados Studio, Lilt, etc.
- Experience working with global cross-functional teams from different cultures.
- Experience with localization best practices for online learning initiatives, including eLearning development tools like Articulate Rise and Storyline.
- Experience prioritizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously in an agile environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of software internationalization, localization standards, and localization testing best practices.
- Degree in translation, localization, or a related technical discipline.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Experience with product, training and learning, marketing, creative and multimedia content localization, and workflows.
- Knowledge of additional languages other than English.
