LQA Manager (1099 contract / US-based remote)

Applause is looking for a Localization QA Manager (LQAM) to play a pivotal role in ensuring that LQA efforts align closely with strategic objectives, contribute effectively to product quality, and support seamless localization across the team’s global platform.

The LQAM role serves as an embedded resource responsible for effectively managing Applause’s Localization Quality Assurance (LQA) deliverables and services through QA expertise, superior project management skills and excellent cross functional communication.

Basic Terms:

  • Role: LQA Manager
  • Type: Independent Contractor (1099 ONLY)
  • Pay rate: $60 to $70 USD per hour
  • Duration: January 1, 2025 through December 31, 2025with potential annual renewal
  • Capacity: Full-time, primarily Mon-Fri during PT standard business hours; occasional off-hours meetings and testing activities
  • Location: US-based remote providing Pacific time zone coverage

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience in localization QA
  • 2+years experience in QA, understanding test planning and testing strategy
  • 2+ years experience with project management in a technical role or engineering company
  • Advanced technical acumen with testing tools
  • Experience working directly with customers and managing customer expectations
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to work on the fly and adapt under pressure

Responsibilities:

  • Communications: Provide LPMs, PJMs with daily project status; timely escalation of blocker issues
  • Project management: Apply PM best practices in support of the LQA program: LQAMs need to be well-prepared for various types of calls, including 3TA calls, daily stand-ups, or ad-hoc discussions. Calls with Engineering are particularly critical for resolving blockers and obtaining clarity on feature milestones; Creating testing strategies and plans. Promptly review all provided documentation related to a feature
  • Time management: Manage workload and associated timelines meticulously, aligning with deadlines set by LPMs or PJMs. When faced with unrealistic timelines, it’s the responsibility of the LQAM to promptly engage with stakeholders to discuss potential impacts and mitigate risks to project timelines and launch strategies.
  • Budget Management: Provide consultative support regarding testing costs, advise on cost implications when considering comprehensive testing strategies, particularly when tests may seem extensive relative to user visibility or project scale.
  • QA SME Must possess a strong grasp of QA principles and be adept at applying these principles to their testing strategies and planning. Understanding the principles of community testing is crucial for developing precise and effective testing strategies. .
