Position Overview
Reporting to the Senior Director, Operations for Questel Language Solutions, and as an integral part of Project Management Team, this role is responsible to oversee a team of project managers, maximizing client retention, profitability, and quality through effective adherence to workflow processes.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee project management team
- Work with management team to determine departmental goals and organization, including staffing and resource needs
- Lead weekly Operations team meetings and develop agendas for meetings, including, but not limited to troubleshooting project issues, tools training, PM strategies, and implementing solutions and training
- Conduct training sessions for new PM hires, as well as for existing project management staff in areas of preventive actions, corrective actions, and continuous improvements
- Manage, delegate, and analyze project management workloads
- Ensure PM duties are carried out in accordance with standard operating procedures and documented processes
- Analyze metrics to determine driving factors and develop corrective actions for trouble areas
- Guide and mentor PMs in cases of underperformance or when help is needed to increase PM competency
- Conduct regular project audits to ensure proper management techniques, file handling and organization, communication, professionalism, etc., are used and achieved
- Analyze profitability of projects on a per-project, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
- Improve and maintain a cost-effective operation by controlling expenses and improving efficiencies; creative problem-solving is critical
- Participate in internal quality system audits and documentation maintenance to assist in continued ISO certification
- Serve as a player/coach in contributing to managing projects throughout their lifecycle, creating specifications and developing timelines
- Oversee project end-to-end delivery, including project management, engineering, desktop publishing, and linguistics
- Proactively manage delivery with careful planning, proper selection and allocation of resources, regular interaction and follow-up on client input, and resolution of issues; expected results are high client satisfaction scores
- Convey recommendations to director regarding hiring, firing, promotion, and disciplinary actions
- Work with project management team to be available to customers and co-workers as needed outside of business hours
- Sign certifications as needed
- Ensure maintenance and compliance with all ISO documentation for Operations
- Endorse company standards within local culture and existing work ethics; support local issues, and align team work ethic and social conduct with global company standards
- Actively promote customer focus and encourages customer service skill development
- Work on special projects and other duties as assigned by management

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years’ company or industry experience required. In addition, any combination of education, experience and training which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities in translation/localization project management:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, using professional tone and language; tactful and diplomatic with a clear, straightforward, courteous, and cooperative manner when dealing with others
- Detail-oriented, organized, thorough, accurate, and able to work quickly and steadily in a focused manner
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Good time management skills
- High social and emotional competence, with management skills based on appreciation and motivation of team members, and the ability to mediate, negotiate, and resolve conflicts constructively
- Understand business implications of decisions and demonstrate knowledge of market and competition
- Exhibit leadership qualities, including confidence in and respect for self of others, professional and ethical conduct, and optimism
- Strong computer skills
- Fluency in English required, fluency in a foreign language a plus
