Product Support Specialist

Position Overview

Our client is looking for an experienced data collection professional to join their research team. This research team works on developing algorithms that make products and services more helpful, whether that be through sensing, machine perception, control systems, pattern recognition, or preference learning. These approaches depend on constructing high-quality data-sets for training and evaluation as we iterate on software or hardware design. The team is looking for a person with strong interpersonal and organizational skills to work on the logistics and data collection effort with human subjects.

Overall Responsibilities

The overall responsibilities for the position are to participate in data collections to pilot protocols, test workflows, and assess device stability. They should also assist in piloting protocols and executing all steps of an experiment with rigor and assist with establishing protocols for exercise testing. They need to assist with recruitment of subjects for exercise testing and perform data collections (conduct studies/tests) for algorithm and sensor development across products.

  • Daily Responsibilities:
  • Plan and oversee collection and analysis of high-quality datasets.
  • Test and pilot new protocols providing feedback to improve testing conditions.
  • Work with researchers, program managers, and engineers to define, plan, build, and debug tests.

Mandatory Skills/Qualifications

  • BS in Kinesiology, Biology, Psychology, or related field
  • At least 1 year relevant work experience in healthcare, tech, research, or another related field
  • Demonstrate success with highly detailed tasks
  • Experience in the fitness/athletics industry
  • Able to lead a group through an exercise protocol, monitoring and cueing as needed
  • Experience running experiments on human subjects
  • Ability to collect data on the behavior of users and devices in a variety of environments, use cases, and situations
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Detail-oriented and ability to complete tasks/projects with set deadlines
  • Ability to organize, multitask, and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment

Desired Skills

  • DeXA machine operation experience/qualification, or radiology experience/certification.
  • Advanced degree (for example, candidates with MS in Kinesiology, exercise physiology, or related field will receive prioritized review)
  • 3 years relevant work experience in human subject research, healthcare, tech other related fields
  • Hands on experience in managing medium complexity programs from end to end
  • Experience working with hardware sensors Clinical research coordination, or similar experience
  • Experience with working with Institutional Review Boards (IRBs)
  • Willingness and ability to learn coding and workflows using Python.
  • Experience with data querying, visualization, and analysis tools
  • Experience with UX research, Physical Therapy, Personal Training, or other human subject related fields.
  • Experience with large scale studies aimed at quantifying explicit human exercise and activity metrics
  • Experience with clinical populations and/or clinical studies
  • Experience in Matlab, Python, or a similar numerical programming language
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse range of people and job functions
  • Demonstrated experience with data collection in both lab environments and in homes
