About the Role
We are looking for an experienced In-House French Canada Translator to join our growing team. Due to an increase in French Canada translation projects, we are seeking a skilled translator to ensure the accuracy and cultural relevance of our content. This full-time position requires fluency in both English and French Canada, with an additional focus on French France as needed. You will collaborate closely with project managers and account managers to deliver high-quality localization and translation projects without missing a beat.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate content from English to French Canada (and occasionally French France) with attention to accuracy and cultural context.
- Review and post-edit machine-translated content to ensure it meets quality standards.
- Conduct thorough linguistic QA reviews and quality checks on final translations.
- Collaborate with project managers, vendors, and other stakeholders to meet project deadlines.
- Take ownership of translation projects aligned with your industry experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Linguistics, Communications, or a related field.
- Native proficiency in French Canada and fluency in English.
- Minimum 3+ years of professional translation experience.
- Strong understanding of Canada’s cultural and market nuances.
- Expertise with translation tools such as CAT tools, translation memories, glossary management, and translation management platforms.
- Fast learner, you are very organized and detail oriented.
- Strong researching skills to analyze a question or problem and reach a solution.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as an in-house linguist or client-side translator.
- Background in software localization, technical translation, IT service management, HR management, workforce management, or enterprise software.
- Knowledge of marketing translation and transcreation is an asset.
- Proficiency in video localization and subtitle translation is an asset.
- Familiarity with tools like SDL Trados, XTM, MemoQ, Smartling, CrowdIn, and Phrase.
- Familiarity with publishing and editing software such as CaptionHub, InDesign, and Office Suite is an asset.
