Role: QA Tester/Language Tester (Cantonese and Mandarin)
Work Location: Remote
Mandatory Skills: SDLC, Jira, IVR, two Language testing experience is MUST
We are looking for a highly skilled Language Tester with fluency in Cantonese,
and Mandarin to ensure that our localized products meet the highest linguistic, cultural, and
functional standards. In this role, you will test software, mobile apps, websites, and
multimedia content in the specified languages to ensure accuracy, cultural relevance, and
seamless user experience across all platforms. You will work closely with the localization and
development teams to identify issues and ensure content displays correctly for global users.
Key Responsibilities
1.Localization Quality Assurance (QA)
o Review and test localized software, websites, mobile apps, and multimedia
content in Cantonese, and Mandarin to ensure linguistic accuracy,
cultural appropriateness, and proper functionality.
o Identify and report language-related issues such as mistranslations, grammar
errors, cultural inaccuracies, and UI layout problems.
o Test localized content for proper display, including character encoding, text
truncation, and any language-specific challenges (e.g., handling of non-Latin
scripts).
2.Test Case Creation and Execution
o Develop and execute test cases to verify language functionality, ensuring
comprehensive coverage of linguistic and functional testing scenarios.
o Conduct functional tests to ensure localized content works correctly in the
software’s user interface, including menus, buttons, error messages, and
multimedia assets.
o Test localization in a variety of environments (e.g., desktop, mobile, web) and
platforms, ensuring compatibility and smooth user experience.
3.Cross-functional Collaboration
o Collaborate with localization teams, product teams, and developers to resolve
language-specific bugs and issues.
o Provide feedback on translation quality, suggesting improvements to maintain
consistency with the brand’s tone and style.
o Work closely with the development team to report bugs and ensure that
language-specific issues are addressed in a timely manner.
4.Testing of IVR Systems
o Test Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems in Russian, Cantonese, and Mandarin, ensuring that voice prompts, responses, and navigation are clear,
accurate, and culturally appropriate.
o Verify voice recognition accuracy and functionality for each language, testing
for any misinterpretations or voice-based errors.
o Ensure that IVR systems deliver the correct responses and guide users through
processes smoothly.
5.Cross-Language Consistency
o Ensure consistency of translations across different languages and verify that
content is culturally relevant and appropriate.
o Identify any linguistic inconsistencies or errors in grammar, syntax, or cultural
references that might cause issues for users in different regions.
o Ensure proper handling of locale-specific content, such as date/time formats,
currency symbols, and legal/regulatory information.
6.Documentation and Reporting
o Maintain detailed logs of all testing results, including defects, issues, and
recommendations for improvements.
o Report findings to the Localization, QA, and Development teams, providing
clear and actionable feedback for resolving issues.
o Create test reports and documentation to track progress and help ensure that all
testing milestones are met.
7.Continuous Improvement
o Stay up-to-date with localization best practices, new language technologies,
and industry trends to improve testing workflows.
o Suggest process improvements to enhance the efficiency of testing, reporting,
and issue resolution.
Required Skills and Experience
∙Fluency in Russian, Cantonese, and Mandarin, with strong command of grammar,
syntax, and cultural nuances in all three languages. Native or near-native proficiency preferred.
∙Proven experience in localization testing, quality assurance, or translation with a
focus on software or app testing.
∙Solid understanding of the testing lifecycle, including planning, executing, defect tracking, and reporting.
∙Strong attention to detail and ability to spot language-related issues (e.g.,
mistranslations, grammatical errors, UI issues).
∙Good understanding of IVR (Interactive Voice Response) systems and experience
testing voice-based systems for accuracy and functionality in different languages.
∙Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced
environment.
∙Strong written and verbal communication skills in all required languages (Russian,
Cantonese, Mandarin).
Preferred Skills and Experience
∙Basic understanding of software development cycles (SDLC) and working with
development teams to resolve technical issues.
∙Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and how they relate to
language testing.
∙Experience testing on a variety of devices, browsers, and operating systems (e.g.,
Windows, macOS, iOS, Android).
Education
∙Degree or diploma in Linguistics, Translation, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
∙Certification in localization testing or quality assurance is a plus.
