Lionbridge UK is currently recruiting for a dedicated Software Test Engineer (Games QA) for one of our esteemed clients. This is a full-time role based onsite at Playground Games (part of Microsoft Games), Leamington Spa, UK and offers an exceptional opportunity to be part of an innovative and passionate team.

As a Software Test Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of specific game areas, managing risk assessments and mitigation, guaranteeing effective test coverage and traceability, and maintaining bug tracking and quality for assigned areas.

In this role, you will collaborate directly with the development team. As the primary quality officer for your areas, you will work with the wider quality team to provide effective quality feedback to the studio. Your test plans will incorporate data, telemetry, automated and manual testing, and identification of required debug tools to provide a confident scalable test strategy, significantly influencing the project’s development.

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate directly with the development team and represent the test team in process improvements and quality excellence.
  • Own specific game areas and develop a deep understanding of the design and requirements.
  • Act as the primary contact for customers, development teams for your areas of ownership and the wider quality team, participate in stand-ups and design reviews.
  • Utilise telemetry and data to innovate test planning and improve test processes (automation and manual testing).
  • Develop, execute, maintain test cases and test scenarios and conduct peer reviews with the wider team.
  • Ensure the quality of bug reports and correct bug resolution.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions to enhance game quality and user experience.

To Be Successful You Will Have

  • A proven track record of testing for at least two years, including owning an area in game testing for at least one year.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Strong understanding of the test process and platform knowledge.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and propose innovative test approaches.
  • Excellent issue reporting and suggestion presenting skills.
  • Experience working with remote teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, with an ability to resolve conflicts and issues.
  • Passion for gaming.
