Clover Language Lead; Spanish

Job Summary
As the Spanish Lead Linguist at Clover Networks, Inc., you will be instrumental in
shaping the linguistic and cultural facets of our products, providing linguistic expertise and insights for an effective market presence in Latin America. This role involves collaborating closely with cross functional teams, driving linguistic quality assurance, and influencing the overall linguistic strategy for our products.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance:
- Conduct meticulous linguistic reviews within Smartling translation platform and on actual Clover devices and websites to maintain linguistic accuracy and consistency, cultural relevance, and a natural flow in Spanish content of Clover product, including on-device apps, Clover Web Dashboard, Clover website, email templates, help articles.
- Ensure translations are grammatically, technically, stylistically and culturally correct
- Establish and maintain stylistic guidelines to uphold the highest quality standards in all language-related aspects of our products.
- Provide linguistic quality feedback to translation vendor and collaborate on linguistic
- changes.
- Review and implement feedback from in-country team, reconciling translations provided by vendor and feedback from in-country, ultimately proposing best quality and consistent version
- Implement ongoing improvements to localized product
- Communicate with Clover teams (PMs, engineering, QE engineering) as needed
- Provide input to Clover teams regarding internationalization or design issues or improvements
- Will be expected to become familiar with the functionality of applicable Clover apps and devices to cover the role of “language lead”. Ensure quality of terminology, tone, style.
Language Resource Development; Glossary of Terms:
- Develop and maintain language resources, including glossary and style guide, to ensure consistent terminology for the Spanish market.
- Collaborate with in-country team and communicate terminology changes to translation vendor
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with software developers, UX designers, and product managers to incorporate internationalization considerations into the product design and development process.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams to address linguistic challenges and contribute to strategic decision-making.
Translation:
- Perform translations as needed for quick turnarounds, or when not practical to send to
external vendor; perform translations for Help Center and Marketing site as needed;
ongoing translation requests from Clover teams.
Cultural Sensitivity:
- Provide cultural insights and recommendations to ensure that our products resonate with the Spanish-speaking audience.
- Stay abreast of linguistic and cultural trends in Latin America, contributing to a culturally aware and localized product experience.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree or certificate in Translation, Interpretation, or a related field.
- Native or near-native Spanish speaker
- Proven experience as a language lead or translation specialist, with a focus on Spanish; familiarity or past experience in the fields of payments, banking, finance, POS systems, and merchant apps preferred.
- Strong understanding of software localization.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with translation platforms and language technology tools is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Mac, Google shared docs and sheets, annotating screenshots, Adobe Acrobat Reader/Writer, Atom text editor, jira, screenshotting, Smartling translation platform
