The Job

We are looking for an independent contractor (EU time zone) for a fixed 6-month contract.

In this role, you will help us ensure that Flo delivers an engaging and native Spanish (Mexico) experience. You will perform regular QA on key content types, evaluate the work delivered by our localization supplier(s) and act as the go-to expert for all Spanish (Mexico)-related consultations. This role cooperates with the Localization Operations Lead at Flo and will work in close collaboration with the rest of the Localization team, external vendors and key stakeholders across the business.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Own all aspects of language quality for Italian, in line with localization best practices;
  • Own all aspects of language quality and experience for Spanish (Mexico), in line with localization best practices;
  • Review top-priority content types, assess translation quality and actively participate in root cause analysis and language issue prevention;
  • Perform linguistic and functional QA on Spanish (Mexico) content to ensure a high-quality localized experience;
  • Work closely with vendors and Localization production and program management to deliver the appropriate language quality and experience per content type;
  • Act as the go-to expert in Spanish (Mexico) related consultations;
  • Own, maintain and expand language assets for Spanish (Mexico) and contribute to the establishment of cross-functional localization best practices;
  • Proactively identify issues and opportunities to improve the Spanish (Mexico) user experience, and work with Localization, Product and other Flo stakeholders to implement solutions;
  • Occasional collaboration with stakeholders across the Product organization (e.g. ASO, User Acquisition, Monetization, Social) to produce high impact/sensitivity Spanish (Mexico) localized content.

Your Experience

Must have:

  • Native Spanish (Mexico) linguist, based in-country or in EU time zone;
  • Workload of 7-9 hours per week, with potential for change in 2025;
  • Notable localization and linguistic QA experience in the online health space (ideally related to women’s health), and with knowledge of scalable localization infrastructures;
  • Proficient understanding of DQF and/or other language quality frameworks;
  • Proven experience in ownership and maintenance of language assets;
  • Proficient in working with auto-generated translation output;
  • Experience and understanding of ASO localization and transcreation processes;
  • Thorough understanding and experience with UI localization and creative workarounds;
  • Experience working in agile environments;
  • Focus on detail and the end-user experience;
  • Proactive attitude and a sense of urgency;
  • Solution-driven thinking;
  • Proficient knowledge and use of Jira;
  • Must be able to work collaboratively and across cultures;
  • Exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adapting to changing priorities;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
