Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Traditional Chinese Linguist – Healthcare Translations Lead to manage and grow a team of translators supporting Medicare-regulated documents and other healthcare materials. This role requires fluency in Traditional Chinese and English, as well as expertise in translation technology, including Trados.
The ideal candidate will work closely with the Spanish language translation lead to align translation strategies and expand translation capabilities to support additional Asian languages. This position focuses on team leadership, quality control, and collaboration, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and compliance in healthcare translations.
Responsibilities:
Translation & Localization
• Translate and localize Medicare-regulated documents (EOC, ANOC, Summary of Benefits) and other healthcare content from English to Traditional Chinese, ensuring cultural appropriateness and adherence to industry-standard terminology.
• Maintain consistency in tone, style, and terminology across all translated content.
• Utilize Trados and other CAT tools to enhance efficiency and ensure translation memory consistency.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
• Oversee and review translations completed by team members and contract translators to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with CMS and healthcare industry standards.
• Develop and manage a glossary and terminology database for Traditional Chinese healthcare translations.
• Ensure translations adhere to all regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Team Leadership & Growth
• Recruit, train, and manage a team of Traditional Chinese translators and expand the network of contract linguists.
• Provide training on translation best practices, tools (e.g., Trados), and healthcare terminology.
• Assign translation projects effectively and monitor team performance to uphold quality and efficiency.
• Collaborate with leadership to expand translation resources for additional Asian languages.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
• Work closely with the Spanish language translation lead to align translation processes and best practices.
• Support cross-functional initiatives to enhance translation workflows and adopt AI-assisted translation tools where applicable.
• Collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, and client translation services as needed.
Qualifications:
• Fluency in Traditional Chinese and English (reading, writing, and speaking).
• 5–10 years of experience in healthcare translation, including Medicare-regulated documents.
• Proven leadership experience in managing translation teams and resources.
• Proficiency in Trados and other CAT tools (e.g., MemoQ, Smartling).
• Strong ability to work within tight deadlines while ensuring high translation quality.
• Attention to detail with impeccable grammar and spelling.
• Strong technical aptitude to learn and apply new tools for translation and content management.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Experience working remotely and managing distributed teams is preferred.
• Experience with AI-powered translation tools and the ability to integrate AI-assisted workflows.
• Knowledge of U.S. healthcare regulations and compliance (e.g., CMS guidelines).
• Experience leading teams through change management in a translation environment.
• Familiarity with terminology management and translation memory systems.
• Experience supporting additional Asian languages in a translation environment.
