Translator

Job Summary:

The Translator is responsible for converting written and spoken content from one language to another while maintaining accuracy, context, and cultural relevance. This role requires excellent language proficiency, attention to detail, and strong communication skills to ensure effective translation. The Translator may work with a variety of documents, including business reports, legal contracts, technical manuals, and marketing materials, depending on the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Translate written documents, reports, emails, and other materials accurately while preserving meaning, tone, and context.
  2. Interpret spoken conversations, meetings, and conferences in real-time when required.
  3. Conduct research on specialized terminology to ensure accurate and contextually appropriate translations.
  4. Proofread and edit translated content to ensure clarity, coherence, and consistency.
  5. Collaborate with different departments or clients to understand language preferences and specific requirements.
  6. Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  7. Ensure compliance with industry-specific terminology, legal standards, and company guidelines.
  8. Adapt translations to suit cultural differences and target audience preferences.
  9. Manage multiple translation projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  10. Utilize translation software, CAT tools, and other digital resources to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  11. Stay updated with language trends, linguistic developments, and industry terminology.
  12. Assist in the localization of content for international markets, including websites, software, and marketing materials.
  13. Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and external stakeholders to clarify any language ambiguities.
  14. Provide voice-over or subtitling support for multimedia content when necessary.
  15. Continuously improve language skills through professional development and training.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Linguistics, Languages, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a translator or interpreter.
  • Proficiency in at least two languages (written and spoken) at a professional level.
  • Strong understanding of grammar, syntax, and cultural nuances.
  • Experience with translation tools such as SDL Trados, MemoQ, or Smartcat (preferred).
  • Excellent proofreading and editing skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects.
  • Strong research skills to ensure accuracy in specialized fields such as legal, medical, or technical translations.
