Job Type: Full-time or Contract

About the Project:

Program Engage Africa is an innovative initiative dedicated to preserving and promoting African languages through technology.

Our goal is to develop web and mobile applications to help collect, evaluate and and annotate data, in order to build APIs that use NLP to support African languages. We are looking for a passionate Web and App Developer to join our team in this exiting project.


– Develop and maintain web and mobile applications.

– Work closely with linguists, cultural experts, tech and localization specialists to define the scope and requirements for gamification of data collection, evaluation and annotation.

– Collaborate on data extraction and integration.


– Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.

– Proven experience in web and mobile app development.

– Familiarity with NLP, glossary building and machine translation is a plus.

– Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

– Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

– Fluent in French/English; proficiency in Ghɔmálá or other languages with similar structure and challenges is an advantage.
