Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Chinese-English-Swahili Translator role based in Kasulu for the Tanzania Burundi SGR Project. The translator will provide accurate written translation of technical, contractual, and project-related documents between Chinese, English, and Swahili. The role includes on-site interpreting during meetings, site visits, trainings, and stakeholder engagements to support clear communication among multilingual project teams. The translator will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and local partners to ensure terminology consistency, cultural and contextual accuracy, and timely delivery of translated materials. Additional responsibilities include maintaining translation records, supporting report preparation, and assisting with communications and coordination tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Translation and English Translation between Chinese, English, and Swahili.
- Proficiency in Interpreting for meetings, site briefings, and stakeholder discussions.
- Effective Communication and Writing skills for clear, professional project documentation.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to work with technical and engineering terminology.
- Fluency in Chinese, English, and Swahili, with the ability to switch languages quickly and appropriately.
- Previous experience in translation or interpretation within engineering, construction, or infrastructure projects is an advantage.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in a multicultural team, and readiness to be based on-site in Kasulu.
- Relevant diploma or degree in languages, translation, interpretation, or a related field is preferred.
