Job Title: Localization Program Manager II

Duration: 8 Months (34 weeks 6 days)

Location: Remote

Languages are key to our mission of bringing the world closer together. The client family of products is currently available in 100+ languages and we are adding many more. Over 70% of people use our products in a language other than English, and ~90% are outside of North America. As a Localization Program Manager, you will partner with product and the rest of internationalization teams to empower client products to feel local at a global scale.

Responsibilities

-Engage and build relationships with cross-functional teams and stakeholders (Product, Engineering, Marketing, etc.) to launch successful localized products

-Design and implement efficient and scalable end-to-end localization frameworks tailored to various products and diverse content types across client.

-Guide stakeholders across client to ensure localization best practices are followed and drive efficient execution

-Proactively identify and streamline technical and process issues that affect localized product relevancy, quality, and functionality

-Actively seek out opportunities to optimize the international user experience and influence adoptions of optimal solutions

-Partner across internationalization to ensure the right resources are in place and all deliveries are completed at the expected standards

Minimum Qualifications

-3+ years of experience in localization program or project management

-BA/BS or equivalent work experience in localization/internationalization project or program management

-Experience communicating across and driving results among a variety of cross-functional stakeholders, working across time zones and international offices

-Experience in identifying and driving forward work in ambiguous environment

-Experience analyzing and interpreting complex data sets to inform business decisions

-Skilled in building and optimizing complex workflows

-Track record of staying focused, prioritizing and creating structure across large, ambiguous programs and setting goals for long-term initiatives

Preferred Qualifications

-Knowledge of additional languages other than English

-Exposure to SQL, analytics tools, or a coding language

-Thorough understanding of translation technologies like translation memories, machine translation, and CAT tools

-Familiarity with internationalization standards such as Unicode and CLDR

-Experience working with localization vendors

-Knowledge of AI technologies and potential application in localization workflows

1) Top 3 must-have HARD skills:

– 3+ years of experience in localization program or project management

– Familiarity with localization standards and best practices

– Experience communicating across and driving results among a variety of cross-functional stakeholders, working across time zones and international offices

4)Compelling Story

Candidate will get a chance to work on supporting the localization of new, exciting products and technologies within the Reality Labs product group at client. Reality Labs includes products such as Virtual and Mixed Reality, the Metaverse, Wearables, AI in devices and more

5) Typical Day in the Role:

– Review assigned project progress vs timelines to identify risks, blockers, areas to support, etc

– Review status of translation requests for assigned products

– Review status of localization testing requests for assigned products

– Communicate with main/FTE Localization Program Manager supporting the Wearables space to coordinate priorities, areas of concern, next steps and/or plans

– Engage with cross-functional teams in meetings, text messages and other communication channels to ensure localization efforts are aligned with latest timelines and risks/updates are properly communicated back to product owners

– Create documents to bring clarity on opportunities, risks, gaps, project progress, share knowledge, etc

6) Resume Disqualifiers?

– No, or lower than 3 years of, localization project or program manager experience

– No experience supporting complex and dynamic environments

– No experience working closely with product partners such as Product Management and Engineering

7) How will performance be measured:

– Delivery completion of assigned projects without issues attributable to the candidate’s work

– Communication and collaboration experience with manager and immediate Localization Program Management team

– Overall communication of project-related risks, concerns or issues across manager, immediate team and cross-functional partners

9) Interview Process/Format:

– 2 separate interviews

A) One interview with Hiring Manager

B) Another interview with an additional Localization Program Manager leader (could be another Manager or a senior IC)
