Quality Project Manager (QPM)

Language Streams: Spanish | Chinese | Korean | Vietnamese | RTL (Arabic/Farsi/Urdu)

Industry: Healthcare & Life Sciences Localization

Location: Noida(WORK FROM OFFICE)

Shift: 8 AM – 5PM EST or PST

Focus: Proactive Quality Engineering & Process Optimization

Position Summary

The Quality Project Manager (QPM) is a dual-role position that combines native bilingual fluency with hands-on project management. Unlike traditional roles that focus on reactive proofreading, the QPM owns the “quality architecture” of their language stream. This role is responsible for identifying and mitigating linguistic, technical, and structural risks to ensure zero defects in regulated healthcare materials such as ANOCs, EOCs, EOBs, and SBCs.

Core Responsibilities

1. Proactive Risk Mitigation & Pre-Flighting

  • Predictive Assessment: Conduct structured audits per account to generate a Risk Map addressing language-specific challenges like RTL mirroring, Vietnamese text expansion, and East Asian honorifics.
  • Technical Gatekeeping: Analyze files in MemoQ to identify and protect fragile tags, variables, and placeholders ({member_name}, %PLAN_ID%) at risk of corruption during translation.
  • Format Alignment: Identify linguistic risks that may affect layout. For example, ensuring content remains compliant within versions of templates, depending on client requirements.

2. Root Cause Analysis (RCA) & Process Engineering

  • Defect Trend Analysis: Analyze monthly Accuracy Rate reports to identify recurring failure patterns by document type, linguist, and language pair.
  • Preventive Action: Lead structured RCA sessions to distinguish between systemic failures (e.g., incorrect Termbase or MT template) and individual human error.
  • Corrective Implementation: Document findings in Corrective Action/Preventive Action plans (CAPA) with named owners and success metrics, and re-measure defect rates 60 days post-implementation to verify effectiveness.

3. Living Asset Stewardship

  • Dynamic Maintenance: Maintain proactive ownership of Style Guides and Glossaries, initiating review cycles rather than waiting for client flags and ensure “Forbidden Term” lists get updated periodically.
  • TM Hygiene: Coordinate periodic Translation Memory (TM) exchanges (if applicable) and version-control all updates to prevent “stale” matches from propagating errors.

4. Future foreseeable responsibilities (Workflow Autonomy): We can decide if we want to expand to these areas.

  • Project Management Oversight: Receive work from PMs and independently manage the QA schedule, resource assignment, and delivery sign-off for assigned language streams.
  • Operational Independence: Minimize the need for PM intervention by serving as the single point of contact for quality escalations.
  • Linguist Mentorship: Provide timely, data-driven performance feedback to freelance linguists to sharpen the talent pool.

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of industry experience.
  • Expertise: Minimum 3 years of quality management experience in an LSP or regulated translation environment (Healthcare/Legal).
  • Language Proficiency: Native-level fluency in one of each of the target streams (Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, or RTL) and professional-level English.
  • MemoQ Competency: Expertise in MemoQ sufficient to manage TMs, identify template/term base errors, and QA warning rules.
  • Analytical Skill: Proven experience with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and documented corrective/preventive action outcomes.
  • Project Management: Strong ability to manage concurrent workflows, track deadlines, and follow through with little to no supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Document Knowledge: Familiarity with healthcare document types: ANOC, EOC, EOB, SBC, GAR, and formulary structures.
  • Systems Thinking: Background in translation project management in addition to QA for an end-to-end workflow understanding.
