The Role and Team
Medallia is committed to global coverage for the platform, including GenAI and Text Analytics capabilities for every major market we support. Today, language and translation work does not align to a unified strategy across the platform, but in feature by feature and quarter by quarter extensions, with no single-threaded owner.
This Senior Product Manager role owns language and translation as a platform capability. You will define how Medallia extends our platform into new languages, including for AI and Text Analytics features, own the translations strategy, and build the repeatable framework, controls, and standards that let feature teams add languages predictably instead of reinventing the process each time. It is a horizontal, high-leverage role that spans Text Analytics, AI and GenAI, and the configuration layer, and it depends on close partnership with feature product managers, data science, and engineering across the organization. This is a role for someone who can drive an initiative from strategy through operationalization and align many teams behind a shared standard.
Responsibilities
- Own the GenAI and Text Analytics language strategy: which languages Medallia supports, the weighted rubric for prioritizing new ones, and the roadmap to bring every feature to parity across the supported set.
- Define the repeatable, productized process for extending a feature into a new language, including requirements, handoff standards between feature teams, platform, and data science, and a clear definition of what language extension means for each feature, so extension stops being bespoke work each time.
- Own the administration and control-plane capability to enable and disable languages per feature and per tenant, including preview (zero-shot) enablement for the approved language list, with the guardrails and disclaimers required for unvalidated languages.
- Own the strategy and controls for how each feature processes multi-language data, including native-language versus translated processing and per-feature language routing, along with the decision framework for choosing between them across features including, but not limited to, Text Analytics and GenAI.
- Own translation as a platform product, consolidating it from its current fragmented state into a coherent, ownable capability, and partner with engineering on the underlying translation services and language-specific parsing for Text Analytics and ML.
- Own language extension beyond the first release: feature teams own the first extension of their own feature, while this role owns the strategy, framework, and every subsequent extension, enabling a clean handoff from the initial owners.
- Partner with data science and specialist annotation vendors on the multilingual evaluation and annotation pipeline, using native-speaking subject-matter annotators, so language quality is validated rather than assumed.
- Collaborate across teams, aligning feature product managers, data science, and engineering to deliver consistent multi-language behavior across the platform.
Candidates based in the Tysons vicinity will be prioritized as this role is Hybrid, 3 days per week onsite.

- Demonstrated experience driving cross-functional initiatives across product, engineering, and data science or research.

Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with localization and translation, including native versus machine-translation trade-offs, quality evaluation, and multi-language data processing.
