Game Localization Specialist (English / French / Traditional Chinese)

Overview

We are looking for a Game Localization Specialist to localize game content from Japanese into English, French, or Traditional Chinese.

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality translations that capture the game’s world, characters, and overall tone, while adapting the content to suit the target market. Depending on the project, your responsibilities may also include PEMT, LQA, quality management, and coordination with external vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Translate in-game content, including system messages, UI text, character dialogue, item descriptions, announcements, and other game content
  • Translate, review, and revise content in accordance with glossaries and style guides
  • Adapt content to reflect the culture and preferences of users in the target market
  • Conduct LQA and identify, improve, and suggest solutions for translation quality issues
  • Coordinate with external vendors and support project management
  • Post-edit machine-translated content and evaluate translation quality

Required Skills

  • Native-level proficiency in English, French, or Traditional Chinese
  • Business-level Japanese proficiency
  • Professional experience in game translation/localization, particularly for RPG titles
  • Strong ability to translate accurately and consistently in accordance with glossaries and style guides
  • Basic proficiency in Google Sheets and Excel, including knowledge of common functions
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and accuracy

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of or experience playing RPGs, adventure games, or dungeon-crawling games (English / Traditional Chinese)
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with popular IPs, such as battle and shonen manga (French)
  • Experience managing or overseeing game localization, LQA, or QA projects
  • Experience using CAT tools such as Trados or memoQ
  • Experience or knowledge of machine translation, LLMs, and post-editing
  • Knowledge of the game market, culture, and user preferences in the target language region
