Job Description: Chinese-English Translator / Interpreter

Location: Mombasa Road, Nairobi, Kenya

1. Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Chinese-English Translator / Interpreter to support our business operations in Kenya.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing accurate two-way translation and interpretation between Chinese (Mandarin) and English, facilitating communication between Chinese management and local employees, and supporting business meetings, customer visits, and daily operations.

2. Key Responsibilities

1. Translation and Interpretation: Provide accurate Chinese-English and English-Chinese translation and interpretation for business meetings, negotiations, customer visits, and daily communications.
2. Document Translation: Translate business documents, contracts, emails, reports, presentations, and other materials between Chinese and English.
3. Meeting Support: Provide consecutive interpretation during meetings and discussions, prepare meeting minutes when required, and ensure accurate communication of key information.
4. Business Communication: Facilitate communication between Chinese management, Kenyan employees, customers, suppliers, and business partners.
5. Technical Translation: Assist in translating solar energy product information, technical documents, product manuals, and training materials when required.
6. Cross-functional Support: Work closely with different departments to support business coordination and operational activities.
7. Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality of company information, business documents, and internal communications.
8. Other Duties: Perform other translation-related tasks assigned by the supervisor.

3. Qualifications and Requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Chinese Language, English Language, Linguistics, or a related field.
2. Proficiency in both Chinese (Mandarin) and English, with strong speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in both languages.
3. Ability to perform accurate two-way translation and interpretation between Chinese and English.
4. Previous experience in Chinese-English translation or interpretation is preferred.
5. Strong communication, interpersonal, and cross-cultural collaboration skills.
6. Good attention to detail, professionalism, and a strong sense of responsibility.
7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
8. Experience working with Chinese companies or in the solar energy, renewable energy, electrical, or engineering industry is an advantage.
