Job Description
For our in-house Language Team, Belkin is looking for a Translations student with good project management skills for an internship of 4-6 months (24-40 hours per week) starting 1 September 2024.
What You’ll Do
As an intern in the field of Localization you will learn how to plan, coordinate, execute and finalise projects as well as translate from English into your native language – Dutch, German or French. Throughout your internship you will have the opportunity to learn a diverse range of skills from translating to managing localization projects and communication in a corporate environment. You will learn to use the tools in place: WorldServer as well as SDL Studio.
You will learn how to effectively deal with a variety of situations, find appropriate solutions and acquire relevant work experience.
How You’ll Do It
During your internship in the Language Team you will be working closely with our five Localization Project Managers who are responsible for translations into their native languages, as well as managing localization projects from beginning to end. You will also liaise with different departments and offices in EMEA, US and APAC. Tasks will include:
- Producing translations from English into your native language (Dutch, German or French) of packaging content, web copy, marketing materials, video’s etc.
- Project planning and execution from start to finish;
- Communicating with external parties, like vendors, and internal clients, the requesters, to ensure a smooth process and timely delivery;
- Continuously evaluating the progress of projects and report issues directly to the Language Team Manager;
- Perform small localization related administrative tasks
Note: The amount and size of translation projects assigned to the candidate will largely depend on the amount of days he/she will be working.
What You’ll Need
- Enrolled in University (HBO or University level) for the whole internship period
- Native speaker in either Dutch, French (France) or German
- High level of English language (both oral and written)
- Affinity with field of translation
- In your final year of translation studies or similar discipline
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks and manage deadlines
- Preferably some background experience in handling projects
- Strong communication skills
- Able to deal with unexpected changes and find creative solutions
- Ability to work independently and team orientated, collaboratively
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Affinity with IT products
- Knowledge of CAT tools is a plus (SDL Studio preferred)
