A global manufacturer near the Schaumburg, IL area is looking for a Japanese-English Interpreter / Translator to assist their team. This is a full-time, on-site, and direct-hire position, including a comprehensive benefits package.
Japanese-English Interpreter / Translator Responsibilities:
- Provide translation from Japanese to English and English to Japanese for emails, documents, business communications, meeting notes, and any other needs that may arise
- Assist with communication during meetings between Japanese and English speakers (including employees, executives, clients, vendors and suppliers, factory floor workers, etc.)
- Assistance with executive meetings between upper management, clients, etc., including cross-departmental communication and reporting
- Respond to and address inquiries and questions in English and Japanese
- Coordinate and schedule meetings and appointments for associates and managers, communicating across language barriers as required
- Performing general administrative tasks such as answering phone calls and emails and directing them to appropriate parties, maintaining document filing systems, and other office duties
- Perform other related tasks as assigned
Japanese-English Interpreter / Translator Requirements:
- Strong language abilities in both English and Japanese are required (business-level to fluent, including reading, writing, listening, and speaking)—this position requires the ability to quickly learn a variety of technical terminology relevant to industrial manufacturing and the automotive industry
- Ability to work effectively with a variety of people, including strong soft communication skills in a multicultural environment
- Prior experience with interpretation or translation between Japanese and English, preferably in a manufacturing field
- Basic understanding of office clerical procedures and systems such as recordkeeping and filing
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
