Responsibilities
- Accurately translate and localize written documents, audio recordings, or spoken conversations from English into Japanese and from Japanese into English.
- Create and synchronize subtitles for audio-visual material and online presentations.
- Research and apply industry-specific and gaming-related terminology consistently.
- Render the message and meaning of the source text into the target text.
- Proofread and review translated content to ensure linguistic accuracy, consistency, and quality.
- Edit content while maintaining its original format (e.g., font and structure)
- Collaborate with project managers, editors, and developers to meet project goals and deadlines.
Requirements and skills
- Proven professional experience as a gaming translator or localization specialist.
- Native-level Japanese proficiency and strong professional proficiency in English.
- Excellent understanding of cultural nuances, idiomatic expressions, and gaming terminology in both languages.
- Strong time-management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Familiarity with WordPress is advantageous.
- Experience with content editing, localization, or CAT tools is highly desirable.
- Degree or relevant certification in translation, linguistics, or language studies is advantageous.
- Availability to work 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday) with flexibility to meet deadlines.
