Localization Specialist, Digital Experience

What To Expect
We are looking for a talented, passionate Localization Specialist to join our growing team based in Fremont, California. Tesla’s Localization team manages 50 locales, across 40 markets, covering 30+ languages and counting. To ensure high-quality translations on Tesla’s public facing website and other digital products, we need an experienced Localization Specialist to work effectively with our product managers, developers, content authors, local reviewers, and third-party language services providers, creating a seamless and positive user experience for all visitors of our website.

What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate the production (translate, review, QA and implementation) of translations for web content and other digital products, e.g. Mobile app, Tesla Account, E-mails, internal system.
  • Identify and fix linguistic and market specific issues before launch
  • Respond to translators’ inquiries and provide instructions and visual context as needed
  • Work with external localization vendors to manage translation schedules and quality
  • Develop and maintain key relationships with cross-functional teams (local markets, Tech Pubs, Firmware, Legal, etc.) and regularly communicate with them to align and calibrate language, style and terminology
  • Create and maintain linguistic assets (TMs, glossaries, style guides, reference material)
  • Support in continuously improving the localization process and provide necessary training to internal and external key stakeholders

  • What You’ll Bring

  • Degree in Engineering, Translation Studies, Linguistics, Communications or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in web and/or software localization
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Eye for detail, even under pressure
  • Experience working with Smartling is a plus
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, highly collaborative, dynamic work environment
  • Fluent spoken and written language skills in one of APAC languages is a plus

  • Expected Compensation

    $80,000 – $168,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
