[Remote/Freelancer] IT Comtor from 1-2 years experience (Chinese-English Language)

About the Project

Tekai is expanding its AI-based visual inspection solution to a major industrial factory in China. The solution uses AI to automatically detect defects on circuit boards during the manufacturing process. A successful pilot has already been completed at another factory in Europe, and we are now scaling to the China site.

The end-user application and all technical documentation need to be localized in Chinese. Additionally, Tekai has committed to providing first-line technical support in the Chinese language for the factory team during normal office hours.

We are looking for an IT Comtor / Technical Support Specialist who is fluent in Chinese and can serve as the bridge between the factory team in China and Tekai’s engineering team in Finland and Vietnam.

Role Overview

This role sits at the intersection of technical support, localization, and cross-cultural communication. You will be the primary Chinese-language contact for the client’s factory team, handling first-line support tickets, translating the application UI and technical documents, and ensuring smooth communication between the Chinese factory team and Tekai’s developers.

Key Responsibilities

First-line Technical Support (Chinese language)

  • Receive and triage support tickets from factory users in China in Chinese.
  • Diagnose and resolve basic issues independently (L1 support).
  • For complex issues, translate and escalate to Tekai’s engineering team in English, then communicate the resolution back to the user in Chinese.
  • Maintain support documentation and FAQ in Chinese.

Application Localization & Documentation

  • Translate the end-user application UI from English to Chinese, covering features such as golden sample registration, defect processing, defect history browsing, and integration management.
  • Translate and maintain all solution technical documents in both Chinese and English.
  • Write user manuals and onboarding guides in Chinese for factory operators.

Communication Bridge

  • Act as the communication bridge between the client’s factory team (Chinese-speaking) and Tekai’s development team (English-speaking).
  • Join meetings with the factory team and provide real-time interpretation when needed.
  • Ensure technical context is preserved accurately when translating issues and solutions between languages.

On-site Support (occasional)

  • Potential travel to the factory in China for project kickoff and final testing phases (up to 2 site visits during the initial 3-month project).
  • Support the data collection process and solution environment setup on-site.

Required Qualifications

Language Skills

  • Fluent Chinese (Mandarin), both written and spoken. HSK5 or above, or equivalent demonstrated proficiency. Native speakers preferred.
  • Good English communication skills, both written and spoken. Must be able to read technical documentation, write support tickets, and participate in meetings with the engineering team in English.

Technical Background

  • At least 1-2 years of experience in an IT environment (technical support, QA/testing, IT helpdesk, BA, or similar roles).
  • Basic understanding of software systems: can explain concepts like database, API, UI, deployment, and bug reports without needing to write code.
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems (Jira, Zendesk, or similar).
  • Comfortable working with technical documentation and translating technical terminology accurately.

Soft Skills

  • Strong attention to detail, especially in translation accuracy for technical content.
  • Proactive communication style, able to follow up on issues and keep stakeholders informed.
  • Ability to work independently across time zones (Vietnam/China/Finland).
  • Professional attitude in cross-cultural communication.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or IoT environments.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML terminology (image processing, model training, defect detection).
  • Experience with localization tools or translation management systems.
  • Previous experience working as a BrSE, IT Comtor, or technical translator for Chinese-speaking clients.
  • Vietnamese language skills (for internal team communication).
