Education and work experience:
Higher education (University degree or higher) in Translation Studies and not less than 4 years of work experience as Technical Translator (Trilingual).
Main functions:
- Delivery of high-quality translation services (written) from English into Kazakh/Russian and from Kazakh/Russian into English for Company Senior Management and user departments by providing accurate, context-sensitive and confidential translation of corporate and technical documentation, correspondence and official communications, as well as render high-quality simultaneous, consecutive and whispering interpretation at high-level internal and external events (particularly, at JOC meetings, townhalls, leadership workshops, VIP visits, and engagements with ministries, PSA, and local authorities, etc).
- Provide high-quality specific discipline related written translation of corporate, technical, and subject-specific materials, correspondence and official documents from English into Kazakh and/or Russian and vice-versa, ensuring accuracy, consistency and compliance with established terminology, formatting and confidentiality standards.
- Deliver high quality interpretation (simultaneous, consecutive, whispering,) from English into Kazakh and/or Russian, and vice-versa, at internal and external high-level events (particularly, at JOC meetings, leadership forums, townhalls, workshops, VIP visits, and interactions with ministries, PSA, and akimats, etc), ensuring full fidelity to the speaker’s tone, style and meaning, while using designated simultaneous translation equipment.
- If necessary, be the focal point for communications with the User-Departments and Managers:
- Liaise with User-Department Manager for the purpose of receiving documents to be properly translated and reverted;
- Liaise with the other KPO Departments for the purpose of clarification of the technical aspects.
- Take the ultimate responsibility for the terminology and accuracy of translations.
- Ensure quality of translations by:
- Reviewing and proofreading the translations for consistency, completeness, and accuracy;
- Rendering an advisory service and practical assistance to the Technical Translators as to the terminology and other aspects of the translation activities;
- On-the job-training of the junior staff that can include provision of the specialized theoretical training material, for example, on methods of translation, specialised literature and documents available in Department;
- Providing recommendations on improvement of translation skills of all the Department Technical Translators and their professional training with Translation Services Manager;
- Implementing in case of necessity the translation computer technologies that provides the opportunity to work quickly enough without loss of quality.
- Ensure confidentiality of document’s content and subject of negotiations.
- In case of necessity to participate in testing and evaluation of translation ability and proficiency of candidates for Technical Translator (trilingual) position.
- Draft procedures and other regulatory documents, as required, pertinent to the translation activities within the Department for Manager’s review and approval.
- Keep and update on a regular basis a database of translations and Technical Translation Log and provide reports on translation activities when required.
- Develop standard formats of papers to facilitate translation process and ease comprehension.
- Develop glossaries of the Department and Project terms to ensure the use of uniform terminology throughout the Department and to avoid misinterpretations and misunderstandings.
- Pilot test and evaluate artificial intelligence (AI) tools for both written and verbal translation by assessing their applicability in real work scenarios and performing quality reviews of selected translations to develop validated datasets for AI training.
- Provide support, by testing state-of-the-art translation technologies, during adoption, including the implementation and advanced use of computer-assisted translation (CAT, TRADOS) tools, terminology databases, and formatting templates to enhance productivity and maintain high quality.
- Perform other instructions of Translation Services Manager within her/his competence.
Necessary knowledge and skills:
- Advanced (C1) Kazakh level is an advantage on this role
- Advanced (C1) English level is an advantage on this role.
- Methods of written translation of texts, technical and other special documented information in Kazakh, Russian and English;
- Methods of Interpretations (consecutive, whispering, simultaneous);

- Proficiency in QA/QC procedures and feedback provision;
- Solid task prioritisation and workload coordination skills
- Use of AI-assisted translation tools and preparation of training datasets
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
