Translation Project Manager | Full-Time | Immediate Start | Lima, Peru (On-site Mon-Thu, Remote Fri)

Montana Language Services (MTLS) is a U.S.-based language access company serving government agencies, healthcare providers, schools, and businesses across Montana. We’re growing, and we’re hiring a Translation Project Manager to run our translation department day to day. This role combines hands-on project management with time to improve how we work, so we’re looking for someone who enjoys building better systems, not just running them. We embrace AI as a tool to work smarter, and we expect you to as well.
What you’ll do
- Receive and evaluate translation requests (language pair, service type, deadline, certification needs) and respond to clients promptly
- Scope each file to decide the right workflow: Phrase (CAT tool), Word, or DTP/recreation for complex formatting
- Prepare accurate quotes for standard, certified, rush, and DTP projects, applying CAT pricing and repetition discounts while protecting margins
- Create and manage jobs and quotes in LSP.Expert
- Set up and run projects in Phrase, including file preparation, translation memories, and term bases
- Assign and manage the linguistic team (translator, reviewer, QA reviewer) in coordination with our Vendor & Operations team, with clear instructions and deadlines
- Track timelines and monitor progress to keep projects on schedule
- Run QA on all deliverables, including certificate and legal translations, and use Xbench to generate and interpret QA reports
- Build and update glossaries, term bases, and style guides in the CAT tool as client needs evolve
- Use AI tools to improve transcription and translation workflows, with human review on every deliverable
- Manage certified translation projects from quote to delivery
- Create client invoices and approve vendor invoices with Accounting
- Complete the weekly operational scorecard (on-time delivery, revision rates, margins) and identify ways to improve workflows
- Support new and existing client accounts: Boostlingo setup, onboarding, usage and renewal tracking
- Provide backup coverage for interpretation project management as needed, including scheduling, intake, and coordination
- During lighter translation periods, improve our systems and workflows by documenting and refining processes, SOPs, templates, and checklists
- Support client account success as a natural extension of project management, such as sharing resources and following up with clients on your projects
What we’re looking for
- Experience in translation project management, ideally from quote to delivery
- Hands-on CAT tool experience (Phrase or similar), including glossary and terminology management
- Familiarity with QA tools such as Xbench, and experience with certified or legal translations (a plus)
- Experience using AI to improve your work, for example in transcription, with a firm belief that human review is mandatory
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and clear written communication
- Full professional English proficiency
