Recording Engineer (Dubbing)

We are seeking Talented and Enthusiastic Audio Engineers to join our team at TransPerfect Media Cape Town!

Role Overview:

The ideal candidate will have a passion for audio engineering, a keen ear for detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. You will play a crucial role in capturing high-quality audio content for a variety of projects, including TV Series, movies, E-learning content, audiobooks, and more.

This is a freelance position, specifically for recording engineers. Although freelance, as an audio engineer you are required to deliver your services at the studio. The ideal candidate must be proficient in both English and Afrikaans, other language proficiencies are highly beneficial. We welcome recent graduates and entry level candidates to apply!

Previously known as Content Lab, we have been acquired by TransPerfect in April 2024. We are a media localization firm based in Airport City, Cape Town, and fall under their umbrella as TransPerfect Media Cape Town.

We are the leading localization facility in South Africa and have major influence on the development of the language dubbing industry, serving a global clientele in multiple language pairs.

Our capabilities are in dubbing and voiceover, subtitling, closed captioning, content strategy, and creative direction in the Southern Africa region.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Record foreign language dubbing sessions – Predominantly English and Afrikaans language sessions
  • Ensure that the project management system is consulted and in-house and client reverts are completed
  • Provide direction and guidance to artists
  • Constructive relationships built with voice artists
  • Ensure accent consistency maintained during the recording sessions
  • Ensure that recorded audio files are clean
  • Ensure that dubbed performance syncs to original performance
  • Ensure that all scripted lines are recorded at the required output
  • Ensure that your completed work is tracked accurately in the session file
  • Ensure that the quality and efficiency standards met
  • Control the quality of the media
  • Ensure that the work is reviewed according to standard and revert procedures are followed
  • Ensure efficiency standards are met
  • Ensure the work is logged off correctly
  • Record additional audio-post projects

Qualifications & Experience

  • Certificate, Diploma or degree in sound engineering
  • Dub recording experience and exposure (advantageous)
  • Experience in post-production environment or media or related industry (advantageous)

  • Microsoft Office
  • Postproduction processes
  • DAW’s (Pro Tools)
