Position Summary: The Chinese to English Proofreader will be responsible for managing and overseeing all English-language content across the company. This role involves translating content from Chinese to English, ensuring cultural appropriateness, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and accuracy. The ideal candidate will be an English speaker with high Chinese proficiency, with a strong understanding of linguistic nuances and cultural context in the English-speaking crypto space.
Note: This role is on a 1-month contract from July 15 – August 15 and will not be extended. However, future opportunities for work may arise.
Key Responsibilities:
Translation and Localization:
- Translate and proofread content from Chinese to English, ensuring accuracy and cultural relevance.
- Adapt content to suit the English market while maintaining the original message and tone.
- Review and edit translated content for quality and accuracy.
Quality Assurance:
- Conduct thorough quality checks on all English-language content.
- Identify and correct linguistic errors, inconsistencies, and inaccuracies.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure the highest quality of translated content.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with the head of localization, business development personnel, product and operations managers, and other stakeholders to understand content requirements.
- Provide linguistic and cultural insights to enhance content effectiveness.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Linguistics, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience as a professional translator.
- Proficiency and experience with localization workflows, including translation memories, termbase management, and TMS platforms.
- Strong understanding of English-speaking market preferences.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a similar role within the crypto or finance sector.
- 3+ years’ experience as a client-side in-house linguist.
- Prior experience translating in Phrase.
- Willingness to work in the GMT+8 time zone.
