- Native-level language proficiency in Japanese (Japan)
- Fluent-level language proficiency in English (US)
- Outstanding localization skills from US English into the target language
- Mark-up language skills, experience working with UI strings and e-learning content
- Working knowledge of the language’s translation style and overall quality by means of initial preparation on Language Assets (Glossary / Term base research / Translation Memory / Style Guides), ensuring that linguists and translators across various networks are aligned
- Working knowledge of quality control, LQA quality assurance mechanisms and concepts, language quality models and arbitrating quality scorecards
- Working knowledge of Post-translation Quality Control, by means of maintenance of language assets, and assessment/review of translators’ ongoing quality
- Bachelor’s degree in the target language, Translation, Communications, Linguistics, or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of the media industry, including subtitling and DTP
- Familiarity with training programs, particularly regarding cloud-computing
- Experience working as part of a global team and flexibility with time zones
Preferred qualifications:
- 2.5+ years of experience as a Language Lead
- Project management and coordination experience
- Affinity for technology
- Machine translation post-editing (MTPE) experience
- Experience working in an agile content development environment
- Memberships or leadership roles in language industry organizations
