What You’ll Do:
The consultant shall contribute their scientific and technical expertise to develop a machine learning (ML)/natural language processing (NLP) framework to efficiently and precisely extract clinically relevant information from structured and unstructured clinical data.
The consultant will perform, to the satisfaction of Acumen’s Project Manager(s) and/or their designee(s), consulting services in connection with activities related to the scientific and technical support for developing an NLP framework. These services can include but are not limited to:
- Creation of an NLP framework/pipeline for use in various projects at Acumen
- Review of case reports for developing, iterating, and improving the NLP algorithm
- Participation in team discussions to provide advice on NLP algorithms
- Participation in the development, testing, and validating of the NLP algorithm, as requested by the team
- Review of and feedback provision on the NLP algorithm
Who You Are:
- PhD in a relevant technical field (e.g., epidemiology, biostatistics, computer science, computational linguistics)
- At least 8 years of experience in developing clinical natural language processing technologies in single- and multi-site clinical settings using electronic health records or administrative claims data
- Career publication list of more than 40 (forty) peer-reviewed manuscripts, including at least 6 as first author
- Demonstrated ability to design and lead simultaneous original research studies, and publish results
- Expertise in the statistical techniques, study designs and research methods used in machine learning, natural language processing, and their applications in epidemiology and public health
- Experience working with and/or leading multidisciplinary teams
Please note, this is /remote] position, however some travel may be required to meet with Acumen project members and clients on an ad hoc basis.
