About the Role:
We are looking for a Bilingual Linguist to join a growing team focused on enhancing voice technology through precise linguistic analysis and annotation. In this role, you’ll work with cutting-edge language models, helping to improve natural language understanding for both US English and Mexican Spanish. This is a 6-month contract with potential for extensions and permanent conversion.
What You’ll Do:
- Linguistic Annotation: Label and categorize data to refine natural language processing systems, identifying domain functions, user intents, and contextual responses.
- Speech Analysis: Evaluate and assess the accuracy of speech recognition, diagnose language processing errors, and enhance system understanding.
- Translation & Localization: Translate and localize content between US English and Mexican Spanish, ensuring culturally relevant, high-quality outputs.
- Quality Assessment: Review and grade language data, analyze user interactions, and identify opportunities for system improvement.
Ideal Candidate:
- Language Proficiency: Native or near-native fluency in both US English and Mexican Spanish, with a deep understanding of linguistic subtleties in both languages.
- Linguistics Background: Bachelor’s degree required, ideally in Linguistics, Translation/Localization, or a related field. Experience in linguistic annotation is a strong advantage.
- Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills for identifying language patterns and assessing system performance.
- Voice Tech Familiarity: Understanding of voice technology and language modeling is a plus, though not required.
Location & Flexibility:
- Hybrid role, requiring 3 days per week onsite in Mountain View, CA. Open to local candidates and those willing to relocate.
