Software Developer/Localization Engineer (Hybrid Role):
Overview
This hybrid role combines the skills of a full-stack software developer with the responsibilities of a localization engineer. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Laravel developer with a strong grasp of backend systems, frontend integration, and API communication, while also being comfortable navigating localization tools and workflows. The role involves building and maintaining internal systems, improving localization pipelines, and supporting the technical needs of multilingual content production.

Key Responsibilities:
Software Development:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable web applications using PHP (Laravel 11+ preferred).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new features and enhancements.
- Work with relational databases (MySQL), ensuring efficiency and reliability.
- Integrate modern front-end tools including Livewire and Alpine.js.
- Build and consume RESTful APIs.
- Use Git for version control and manage deployment workflows.
- Explore and implement AI/ML features using Python, OpenAI API, or similar technologies (as applicable).
Localization Engineering:
- Support the technical implementation of localization workflows.
- Troubleshoot file formatting, encoding issues, and localization-specific technical problems.
- Assist project managers and language leads in configuring tools and workflows.
- Test and integrate TMS tools with existing internal platforms.
- Research and implement improvements to localization workflows and automation.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for system processes, updates, and user guides.
- Ensure compliance with data security and privacy regulations in all aspects of system maintenance and user management.
Solutions Architect Support:
- Participate in client calls to provide technical guidance and propose solutions for complex localization requirements.
- Research and recommend tools, programs, or workflows to meet client-specific needs and improve project outcomes.
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to design and implement tailored localization solutions.
Qualifications:
- Experience in PHP/Laravel (Laravel 11+ ideal).
- Comfortable working with MySQL or similar relational databases.
- Good understanding of front-end development with Livewire and Alpine.js.
- Proficient in building and integrating RESTful APIs.
- Familiar with version control (Git) and modern CI/CD workflows.
- Experience or interest in localization workflows, tools, and best practices.
- Experience or interest in TMS platforms such as Phrase, Plunet, or equivalent.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new localization technologies.
- Familiarity with common file types in localization (XLIFF, JSON, XML, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively and propose alternatives.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with non-technical stakeholders.
- Team player.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and efficiency.
- Bonus: Knowledge of AI/ML tools, Python, OpenAI API, or similar platforms.
